Say it: dead mouse
Heard on 1 episode of EKHO Sonic Chill

deadmau5 is Joel Zimmerman, a producer out of Niagara Falls, Ontario, born in 1981. The name? He found a dead mouse inside his computer, people online started calling him that dead mouse guy, and it stuck. Then came the mau5head, the giant mouse-head helmet he plays live in. It started as a 3D model he made as a joke. In 2016 he and Kaskade put out 'Beneath with Me,' with Skylar Grey singing, and Kaskade's V.4 is the fourth pass they made at it.

Fact-checked Oct 4, 2026.
