Marlin's Dreaming. Indie/psych surf-rock out of Dunedin, New Zealand. They formed after singer-songwriter Semisi and guitarist Tim met at Hydro Surf, the local surf shop where Semisi worked. The debut album, Lizard Tears (2017), which has 'Floating' on it, was produced by Justyn Pilbrow, known for his work with The Neighbourhood, and mixed by Jeff Ellis, whose credits include Frank Ocean and Kali Uchis. Serious outside ears for a young New Zealand band's first record. The band's jam room looks out over a beach, and Semisi has credited that view with shaping their sparkling, laid-back sound. They followed Lizard Tears with a second album, Quotidian, in April 2020.
