Artist
Mazzy Star. Formed in Santa Monica in 1988 around singer Hope Sandoval and guitarist David Roback, growing out of the Paisley Underground psychedelic scene. 'Blue Light' is off 1993's So Tonight That I Might See, the platinum-selling album that also produced the enduring hit 'Fade into You.' Their hushed, reverb-drenched sound became a touchstone for the dream pop and slowcore that followed, and Sandoval's whisper-close vocal style has been widely imitated but never quite duplicated. They reunited for a run of shows and a new album, Seasons of Your Day, in 2013. Roback died in 2020.
