Artist
Polly Jean Harvey, from Bridport, Dorset. One of British music’s most restless artists, reinventing her sound album to album. Is This Desire? (1998, Island) was her shift from raw guitar rock into atmospheric electronics. She’s the only artist ever to win the Mercury Prize twice, in 2001 and 2011, and it’s the same restless craft on display here. Her tenth album, I Inside the Old Year Dying, followed in 2023.
