Real Estate formed in 2008 in Ridgewood, New Jersey, around childhood friends Martin Courtney (vocals/guitar), Alex Bleeker (bass) and Matt Mondanile (guitar), and later moved their base to Brooklyn. Gently chiming, Byrds-inspired jangle pop, suburban daydreams over interlocking clean guitars. Days (2011), their Domino debut, is the record that made them: a rare 8.7 from Pitchfork and a Fader cover. Then came Atlas (2014), In Mind (2017), The Main Thing (2020) and Daniel (2024). Days was recorded over five months in a converted barn in New Paltz, New York, with producer Kevin McMahon, and 'All the Same' is its seven-minute closer. After Daniel (2024), the band toured an Atlas anniversary run in autumn 2025 with new guitarist James Richardson, who replaced Julian Lynch.
