The Depreciation Guild. Brooklyn dream-pop/shoegaze band formed in 2005 by Kurt Feldman (vocals, guitar, programming) and guitarist Adrian Hashizume, later joined by twins Christoph and Anton Hochheim. Guitar pop influenced by Cocteau Twins and Talk Talk, fused with 8-bit NES-sourced textures Feldman had been messing with since 2003. Sometimes tagged 'nintendocore.' The catalogue runs from the Nautilus EP (2006) through In Her Gentle Jaws (self-released 2007, reissued by Kanine in 2009) to Spirit Youth (2010), with 'Dream About Me' out as a single in 2009 ahead of the second album. After splitting in January 2011, Feldman went on as Ice Choir, the Hochheims formed Ablebody (now Always You), and all three played in The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. They reunited for one-off shows in 2013 and 2023.
