The Fauns. Bristol shoegaze and dream pop, formed in 2007 around singer Alison Garner, bassist Michael Savage and drummer Guy Rhys-Davies, with guitarist Will Slater. Their self-titled 2009 debut came out with almost no promotion on their own Laser Ghost label, and it still sold more than 5,000 copies on word of mouth alone, championed by BBC 6 Music's Steve Lamacq. 'Fragile' is the album's delicate centerpiece ballad, and it drew a remarkable admirer: film composer Clint Mansell (Requiem for a Dream, Moon) remixed it for a Record Store Day 12-inch on Invada in 2013. Their second album Lights (2013) and third, How Lost (January 2024), both came out on Invada, the Bristol label co-run by Portishead's Geoff Barrow. The newest record adds electro and disco pulses under the guitar haze.
