The War on Drugs. Philadelphia band led by songwriter-producer Adam Granduciel. Their expansive, Springsteen-and-Krautrock-indebted sound turned 'Under the Pressure,' the nearly nine-minute opener of 2014's Lost in the Dream, into a critical breakthrough. That album set up a run that included a Grammy Award for Best Rock Album for 2017's A Deeper Understanding. Granduciel's known for a meticulous, perfectionist studio process. They tracked Lost in the Dream across studios in Philadelphia, New York, North Carolina, New Jersey and Texas, chasing the right sound. In April 2026 Granduciel said the band's sixth studio album was nearly finished.
