Karen O, Nick Zinner and Brian Chase’s NYC trio traded scrappy garage-punk for synths on It’s Blitz! (2009, Interscope), to wide acclaim, and “Skeletons” was the album’s third single. The songwriting held up well enough that Icelandic band Of Monsters and Men covered it in 2013. A nice marker of a song’s staying power beyond its own fanbase.
